Southern Living Cake Contest 2011

Difficulty Level : Moderate ( 2 out of 5 ) A widely read lifestyle magazine, Southern Living Magazine has offered a challenge to its readers for baking their own original white cake. Thus if you want to accept this cake baking challenge, join the Southern Living Cake Contest 2011 by submitting your own Southern Living cake batter recipe. Here, winning recipe will be appeared on the cover page of Southern Living December issue plus $1,000 cash will be awarded to winning recipe creator. As well, two runners-up will receive $500 and their recipes will be published in the magazine’s December dessert story.

Limit: No limit for the number of online or mail-in entries and age of 18 or older is required at time of entry.

Two alternative entry ways are available for the interested person who wants to enter in the contest:

1) Online: During contest period, follow the provided directions to complete entry form at www.southernliving.com/cakecontest. With your entry form, you must require to include your own, original recipe that must be one of the five online provided Southern Living cake batter recipes: Chocolate Velvet Cake Batter, Red Velvet Cake Batter, Vanilla Bean Cake Batter, Sour Cream Cake Mix Batter, or Coconut-Pecan Cake Batter. Your recipe must be specified with recipe name, choose your batter recipe, add your filling and frosting, and recipe inspiration. You may submit an entry at one time and only one entry for a definite named recipe.

2) Mail: You can also join this contest via mail. For mail entry, specify batter, pan size, and shape you chose and add your filling and frosting recipes on 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper as well as include your name and complete address then send it to: Southern Living ‘Create Our Holiday Cover Cake Contest’, c/o Nellah McGough, 2100 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, Alabama, 35209.

From the all received submission, three recipe finalists will be deemed on the basis of judging criteria of originality and taste. On September 6, 2011, one grand prize winner and two finalists will be informed.

One lucky finalist will receive $1,000 cash prize plus a chance to feature his/her winning recipe on the cover of December 2011 Southern Living magazine issue. And two finalists will be awarded $500 cash prize as well as opportunity to feature in the Food section of Southern Living magazine’s December issue.
