Difficulty Level : Very Hard ( 4 out of 5 ) After seeing the success of last year’s Duelling Donuts contest, Tim Hortons has again come up with Duelling Donuts contest. Last year, about 63,000 participated in the contest and won many prizes. This time it’s your turn to have a chance to add your dream doughnut to the Tim Hortons menu and win $10,000 cash prize. All you have to do is create a virtual doughnut and submit an essay.
Limit: The age limit to enter the contest is different for US and Canadian residents. The minimum age requirement is 19 in AL & NE and 18 in remaining U.S. states and for Canadian residents, 19 in BC, NB, NL, NT, NS, NU & YT and 18 in other provinces. Participants are allowed to enter once a day daily during the Submission Phase.
During the Submission Phase (July 7 to August 1, 2014), visit www.duellingdonuts.ca, www.combatdesbeignes.ca, TimHortons.com/DuellingDonuts or TimHortons.com/Combatdesbeignes and follow the instructions to create your donut design. After creating the design, provide a donut name and an essay explaining the donut name and the donut’s marketability. Then, provide required details to submit the registration form.
During the Pitch Phase (July 7 and August 1, 2014), 20 Entries will be selected from all eligible Entries on the basis of the Judging Criteria. These 20 potential Finalists have to submit one minute long pitch video within 72 hours featuring the entrant explaining why his or her Donut Submission is the best. The Pitch Video will be evaluated on the basis of Judging Criteria: up to 20 points for your donut creation, 10 points for your donut name, 30 points for your donut story and 40 points for marketability. The eight Entries with highest scores in the Pitch Phase will proceed to the Live Judging Phase.
The 8 Semi-Finalists shall be invited to Oakville, Ontario, Canada for participating in the live judging phase. The Live Judging Event will take place on August 13, 2014. A day before the Live Judging Phase, Semi-Finalists can view and taste their new donut, have their donut photographed and meet with the Tim Hortons team to get feedback on their submitted Pitch Video. Sponsor and a panel of celebrity judges will select four Finalists on August 13, 2014.
During the Voting Phase (August 18 to August 29, 2014), four finalist's Entry and accompanying Pitch Video will be posted on the Website for pubic voting. The public can vote for their favorite donut design using the online poll.
